A married couple died in a tragic one-car accident yesterday on Interstate 59 in Bessemer, according to a report from the Times Daily.
The crash occurred at the 110 Alabama Adventure Parkway exit when the car ran off the road, overturned and reportedly ejected a passenger and partially ejected the driver.
A second couple was apparently also in the vehicle, and were taken ot UAB Hospital in Birmingham to treat their injuries. Their conditions were not reported.
The motor vehicle accident was reported to be caused by the driver’s decision to reach down and pick up an item while driving, which caused him to exit the roadway.
This terrible accident serves as a reminder to drivers and passengers to always wear their seatbelts, and for drivers to avoid distractions while on the road.
