A 10 week course to better explain to lay people how the legal system works – the People’s Law School – returns January 26 in Huntsville, Alabama. Huntsville’s Mayor, Tommy Battle, explains how the school works:
"The topics include practical information a citizen needs to know in the event he or she buys a house, gets arrested, goes bankrupt, gets divorced, applies for Social Security, gets hurt on the job, has tax problems or has a problem with a will or an estate," Brinkley said. "The program is of great benefit as it gives all who want to hear a close-up view of the lawyers who run our legal system."
This is a wonderful concept. I believe that the people who appreciate lawyers and the legal system the most are those who have been represented by a competent attorney who has taken the time to explain the process to them. The more that people understand about how the system works, the more they will be inclined to hire an attorney.
