I recently heard the term "burn season" which caused me to think about cold weather in an entirely new light. We represent a severely burned young man who is experiencing an aggressive timetable of reconstructive surgery. The doctor explained that his goal is to complete as much surgery as possible before "burn season" arrives.

The doctor explained that as the weather gets cold burn injuries and the need for emergency surgery increase dramatically. Cold weather results in space heaters causing fires, enclosed houses and exploding gas, Christmas tree fires, campfire injuries and other sources of burns associated with cold weather.

Fire injuries in cold weather are so predictable that the health care community must include that phenomenon in scheduling. Please be careful.
