We have all seen the commercial. A guy with a guitar singing a very catchy song, about a free credit report. I’ve seen the commercial enough to know the words by heart. I never had a reason to use their website, but I always wondered how a website that sold itself as providing "free" credit reports to consumers, but could afford so much commercial ad space. Well, Im not the only one that was intrigued by this catchy jingle.

The Federal Trade Commission has now enacted new legislation that requires companies like Free Credit Report.com to disclose to their customers, that they aren’t actually receiving a free credit report. The following article on CNN.com really shows how these online companies were deceiving their customers, and freecreditreport.com, should be more accurately titled, youaregoingtopayforacreditreport.com, but I guess that phrase is a little harder to work into a song.
