Over the lats few weeks and months, I am hearing from fellow Trial Lawyers that juries are beginning to render verdicts in favor of the injured Plaintiff, and handing down appropriate verdicts.

For the past few years juries would award the medical expenses that an individual incurred as a result of being rear ended by someone not paying attention, and there would almost be a sense that they were doing the Plaintiff a favor. More and more, there are cases where someone’s pain and suffering is actually being compensated.

I think over the next few years we will see less and less jurors having ill conceived notions that the Plaintiff is only a money grubbing litigant, and instead see the Plaintiff as simply someone who wants to be fairly compensated for their injury. Hopefully the past few months won’t simply be a blip on the legal radar and jurors will actually come to court with their minds open, and leave their bias and prejudices at the courthouse steps.
